Hiking to Our Lady of the Snows

Hiking from Omiš through a gorge to the village of Naklice and along “Way of the Cross” to Church of Our Lady of the Snows 406 meters above sea-level. Beautiful vista of Omiš and Dalmatian islands and history of central Poljica.

Our Lady of the Snows is located atop the Poljica Mountain Range stretching from Omiš all the way to Split. The church got its name based on the local legend claiming a miracle took place here: snow fell on this peak in the middle of summer.

The hike to Our Lady of the Snows is perfect for those for those in the mood for a bit challenging and more dynamic hiking. The first section of the trail passes through a miraculous gorge between Komornjak and Babjača peaks and leads to the village of Naklice, 235 meters above sea-level. The second section is dubbed “the Way of the Cross”, commemorating the Passion of Christ. There are fourteen stations along the way, marked with crosses. They are perfect for recovering one’s breath and enjoying the wonderful scenery. The persistent hikers will be rewarded once they reach the church and get to enjoy the beautiful vistas of Omiš and Dalmatian islands. They will also have an opportunity to learn the interesting history of the central Poljica.

The excursion takes 3 to 4 hours (length of trail: 9,750m). The program includes:

  • Hiking from Liščina in Omiš to Our Lady of the Snows
  • Licensed expert guide
  • High-quality photos and videos of the excursion
  • A traditional lunch – local specialties in Radmanove mlinice or Kaštil Slanica restaurants – can be included in the program.
