Culinary workshop: bread under the baking lid

Workshop on making bread under baking lid in ambience of River Cetina canyon. Learning about culinary heritage. Mentored making of traditional bread in renowned 19th-century water-mill-turned-restaurant.

Over the millennia, the River Cetina cut a magnificent canyon on its way to the sea. Roaring through the gorge, it cast its accumulated water power on the mill-wheels along the river. This is why the water-mills on this location, where the river rapids become a quiet stream, are first mentioned as early as in the 17th and 18th centuries. Radmanove mlinice (Radman’s Water-mill) thrived in the 19th century. Today it is a restaurant and a resort where the shade of tall trees, stone mill-wheels and a sundial evoke the spirit of the days long gone.

The culinary workshop on making bread under baking lid takes place in the original setting, using the recipes of the ancestors, with fire crackling in the smoking hearth. Under the mentorship of the hostess, guests can learn little secrets of the trade, resulting in delicious bread and lovely memories.

The program can be organized in the period between April and November.  A minimum of 2 persons are required for the workshop.  The workshop is suitable for all age groups (children and minors must be accompanied by parents or other responsible adults).  Expert guided tours in Croatian and English are available (also in other languages, at request).  All the above elements of the program are optional; kindly contact us for the final version of the program.
