Pirates’ night in the Cetina canyon

A visit to fortress Mirabela and meeting with centuries-old tradition of Omiš pirates. Fighting against pirates on the banks of Cetina; pirate games and dance; plentiful pirate dinner – food once enjoyed by Omiš pirates.

Its centuries-old pirate tradition has made Omiš a distinctive tourist jewel of the heart of Dalmatia, between Split and Makarska. Retracing the eventful history of the local pirates in the 12th, 13th and 14th centuries takes us back to the princely Kačić family, the then lords of Omiš who collected tribute from ships for allowing them to navigate this part of the Adriatic. The Cetina and its islet in front of the present-day Kaštil Slanica restaurant were the main pirate base.

You can taste the pirate tradition that still lives in Omiš. Join the fight against pirates on the Cetina and become their captive, for you will never forget the treatment that follows: a pirate party and dinner in Kaštil Slanica restaurant, with “specialties from the sea, river and Rock of Omiš” once enjoyed by the famous Omiš pirates.

A 1-to-3-day package can be organized. Generally, the following activities are included in a 3-day package:

Day 1: Arrival and expert-guided thematic tour focused on the pirate history of the town of Omiš; visit to pirate fortress of Mirabela

Day 2: “Pirate night in Cetina canyon” (canyon boat ride; attack of Omiš pirates; pirate dinner, live music and pirate games)

Day 3: Departure
